The new bridge at Toome

toomenewbridge1.jpg

The village of Toomebridge (Toome) is situated immediately to the north of Lough Neagh, Ireland's largest inland waterbody, and is on the strategic A6 route joining the cities of Belfast and Londonderry.

Prior to the construction of this bridge, all the traffic travelling beween Belfast and Londonderry had to go through the village.

The Toomebridge Bypass was opened in March 2004, and provides a dual carriage-way by-pass around the village.
