"Life in the Past" - Further recollections of Bellaghy as it used to be.

This is a reprint of the original "Life in the Past" book (published in 2002) with an aditional two chapters.

This is a 142 page book which paints a picture of Bellaghy village as it was in the last century. The book covers many aspects of life in Bellaghy such as Agriculture, Education, Employment, etc and well as information about the history of the various churches in the area. Also included in the book are a number of photographs of live in and around Bellaghy, in the early part of the 20th century.

"Ulster Poems 2005"

We often forget that everyday happenings are history and the fact that these poems make reference to local events and people mean they are an invaluable source of material to chart social history.

"Eighty Years Young"
published by Matt T Bruce - April 2002

Eighty Years Young was written by Bellaghy Historical Society member, Matt Bruce and details his recollections from his childhood memories until the present day. This 90 page book is packed with snippets of information about life in and around the Bellaghy area over the past 80 or so years.

At his home in Drumlamph Matt said "I have always been a history enthusiast, and in this book I have tried to show how I saw life in the 20th century. He added "I have kept every subject to a minimum because modern readers do not like excessive detail."

Matt has touched on a wide range of items such as Bellaghy Fair, Edenreagh Spade Mill, Local personalities, Social activities, Places of local interest and much more, including a brief history of the 20th Century. Also included is a list of businesses and trades in Bellaghy in the 1930s and a number of photographs of Bellaghy, Castledawson
